It was usual for each cotton weaving town in Lancashire to have a week's holiday from the mills during the summer months, normally called Wakes Week. The mill closed completely and most folk went off to Blackpool and stayed in lodgings for a few days. The unlucky ones who couldn't afford it went on 'day trips' and caught the sharrabang to Fleetwood, New Brighton or Morecambe.That's where my blog has been this past week. Off on it's holidays!!
It's been a year since I started it and for those folk who have shared it with me, I hope some of it has been interesting.
